Notification of Bylaw Amendments: Section 2-16
The College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC has posted a proposed amendment to its provisional Bylaws. Due to COVID-19, the Medical Council of Canada Qualifying Examination (MCCQE) Part II, College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC) and Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) certification examinations were not offered at their scheduled times. In response, section 2-16 was amended on May 27, 2020 to add subsection (1)(f), which provides the registrar with discretion to waive the sponsorship and supervision requirements for provisional applicants who have completed a residency program in Canada in 2020 until the results are available from the next sitting of the MCCQE Part II and the CFPC or RCPSC certification examinations.
Given the ongoing impacts of COVID-19 on the availability of the licensing and certification examinations, a further amendment to section 2-16(1)(f) is needed to accommodate those residents who will complete their residency programs in Canada after 2020.
The bylaw amendments have been posted for a 14-day notification period, giving College registrants and other interested parties the opportunity to review and comment.
